Cody
Enterprise code AI with your whole codebase as context.
What it does
Why it matters
Most AI assistants see the file you're editing. Cody sees the repository — Sourcegraph's code intelligence (originally built for code search at enterprise scale) gives it genuinely better context on large, unfamiliar codebases. For onboarding onto legacy systems, that difference is decisive.
Engineering notes
- Code graph context. Built on Sourcegraph's indexing — the assistant retrieves relevant code semantically, not just the open tabs.
- Enterprise posture. SSO, audit logs, self-hosting options — the compliance checklist that unblocks adoption at large orgs.
- IDE and web. Works where developers are, plus the Sourcegraph web interface for codebase-wide questions.
Limitations
- Shines brightest on large codebases; smaller projects won't feel the advantage.
- Enterprise pricing reflects enterprise positioning.
- The broader Sourcegraph platform changes have created some uncertainty — watch the roadmap.

An all-in-one JavaScript runtime, bundler, test runner, and package manager.
Bun collapsed the Node.js toolchain — runtime, transpiler, bundler, test runner, package manager — into a single Zig binary that's dramatically faster at nearly everything. Cohesion as a performance strategy.
Continue
The open-source AI code assistant for VS Code and JetBrains.
Continue brings AI assistance into the editors developers already use — autocomplete, chat, and agent actions — open source and model-agnostic. The community-driven alternative to closed assistants.
Cursor
The AI-first code editor, forked from VS Code.
Cursor took VS Code's familiar surface and rebuilt the AI integration underneath: tab completion that predicts your next edit, a composer for multi-file changes, and agent mode that runs terminal commands.
